TAUNY presents Gretchen Koehler's "Fiddling With Traditions" - a new fiddle suite of handcrafted tunes inspired by North Country artists at the historic Pickens Hall, Heuvelton, NY on October 22, 7PM. $15.00
This fun and imaginative program will feature fiddler/composer Gretchen Koehler & pianist Daniel Kelly sharing fiddle tunes that evoke everything from sweeping brush strokes, to intricate stitching, to the fiery forging of Northern NY's traditional arts.
Through storytelling, creative musical arrangements, and Koehler's compositions highlighting the many fiddle styles played in the region, audiences will learn about the work of rug braider Helen Condon (Parishville ), blacksmith James Gonzalez (Potsdam), quilter Rebecca Muir MacKellar (Canton), silversmith Mary Ann McLaughlin (St. Regis Falls), paper maker Todd Moe (Norwood), knitter Renee Stauffer (North Lawrence), painter Catherine LaPointe Vollmer (Potsdam), and guideboat builder Chris Woodward (Saranac Lake).
